In this blog post, I’ll show you How To Add An Active Directory Domain UPN Suffix to my existing Active Directory domain.

Since the release of Office 365 and the use of Active Directory Sync (Also known as Azure AD) and Domain that Is added to the Directory Sync needs to be a routable domain.

Office 365 users that are sync to Office 365 must use a UPN that Is routable on the Internet, for example, a .local domain cannot be synced to Office 365.

There for many Organization requires their routable Domain to be added to Active Directory before performing AD Sync or even sync the Directory details.

In this article, I’ll a routable domain to my Active Directory.

To get started, I’ll open the Active Directory Domain And Trusts Management Console from the Administrative Tools

Right click on the domain and click on Properties

In the text box I’ll add the new domain

Next, when I open the details of an AD user and go to Account I have the option to set the UPN to the new routable domain
