In my previous article, I showed you How to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.7 however, you might have noticed the server grabbed IP from a local DHCP server as its configured to “Use dynamic IPV4 address and network configuration” (Default Behaviour). However, In this article, I will show you How to configure Static IP on VMware ESXi 6.7

To Start with Lets hit F2 key to customize ESXi server or it can also be used to view logs.

You will be prompted to enter root credentials as soon as you hit F2

On Successful authentication via root creds, you will see the configuration screen where you can manually configure a lot of things such as password/lockdown mode/keyboard/management network etc.. please refer to the picture below for entire list.

Screen post successful authenticationHowever, as we are focused on How to configure Static IP on VMware ESXi 6.7 in this article let me show you how to do it.

Please select configure management network and you will see the screen below where you can configure Network Adapters/VLAN/IPV4/IPV6/DNS & customer DNS Suffixes.

Now lets select IPV4 configuration and you will see a new pop-up to configure IPV4 address. you will have to select “set static IPV4 address and network configuration” and select the same using space key (mentioned in the screen) You can change the IP address here. see below:

After configuring new IP address hit Enter and it will take you back to the Configure Management Network screen and as soon as you try to exit this management network screen by hitting Esc key it will show you a new pop up saying “Apply changes and restart management network” see the screenshot below:

Congratulations! you should be able to configure the static IP successfully.
