How To Restore A Deleted Exchange Mailbox On Exchange Server 2016

In this blog post, I’ll show you How To Restore A Deleted Exchange Mailbox On Exchange Server 2016.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 by default keeps deleted mailboxes for 30 days and deleted emails for 14 days.

These two native features allow us to restore deleted items and mailboxes easily and without going to backup tapes and other restore tools.

In my case, I have deleted a mailbox of a user called Don Shell and I’ll restore his mailbox the steps below that can be done using PowerShell or EAC.

To get started, I’ll run the cmdlet below to view all my deleted mailboxes

Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | Where { $_.DisconnectReason -eq "Disabled" } | ft
DisplayName,Database,DisconnectDate
